Uruguay lead the charge of the South American countries at this World Cup with four of the five entrants already through to the last 16 with Chile possibly following them. Uruguay looked good in topping Group A, conceding no goals and looking threatening in the process. When you consider that they only won 6 of their 18 matches in qualifying, their renaissance is rather surprising. Yet with the likes of Martin Caceres and Jorge Fucile defending admirably and Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez causing defences all sorts of problems, Uruguay have grown into a dangerous side in this tournament.

South Korea started well with an impressive 2-0 dismissal of Greece yet they have struggled since. They were torn to shreds by Argentina before almost throwing qualification away against Nigeria through some awful defending. Yakubu had the miss of the tournament against them and if Obafemi Martins had taken his late chance, South Korea would be out. Manchester United’s Ji-Sung Park will be hoping for an improvement from his side or else they will be getting eliminated this time.

Uruguay just look too strong for the Asian side in every department. While it would be hyperbole to label Uruguay as a complete side, they do have enough in their make up to suggest that it will take a very good team to knock them out. South Korea are $5 to win in normal time and this should not be considered. Uruguay will play sensibly and wait for the South Koreans to make a defensive mistake which they surely will. Then Forlan and Suarez will do the damage sending Uruguay into the quarter final. Take the $1.90 on offer for them to win within 90 minutes.

Verdict: Uruguay to show how dangerous they are
